I was really unwell this morning. Some tablets given to me earlier in the week were the culprits. I tumbled out of bed, visited the bathroom and dehydrated rapidly. Me and the floor suddenly made contact. I did not know which end of me was where. Hubby's soothing voice broke into my fuzz and his strong arms lifted me off the floor. I was almost insensible. I remember a feeling of minimal consciousness. Only after the crisis had passed and my wits had started to revive, did I realise what a horrible experience it was, and how lucky I was to have hubby at home to help me.
The first thing to do was to get some fluid into me to re-hydrate myself, then get to speak with the doctor. He was alarmed to hear my tale and the moment I showed him the offending box of pills, he politely confiscated the box, saying he would dispose of the prescription.

I hope a prolonged bout of rehydration & rest quickly returns you to your natural good health!
I do wonder how much doctors properly consider the matter prior to dishing out their prescriptions...
Whoah, steady on there. I hope you're soon feeling your old self.

Hi Ax,
Thanks for your good wishes, they are very much appreciated. I was rather shocked at what happened and was very wary about starting my day today.
I am drinking plenty. :)
Thank you for visiting Zep,and also, thanks for your good wishes.
I'm busy working on the fluid intake.
Ciao Mira,
Many thanks. Yes, it was lucky that hubby was around, especially as he often goes out early.
How is your foot?
What an unpleasant shock. Thank goodness Hubby was there to look after you. I know your customary good sense will mean that you're taking care of yourself - and glad the doctor confiscated those wretched tabs. Is your reaction rare, or should you have been warned that this was possible?
That sounds absolutely awful, you poor thing, you could have really hurt yourself when you fell. I'm so glad hubs was there and the pills have been BINNED!!! At least you know what caused it.....
Get better soon.xxxx
Indeed Snowbird, I agree with what you say. The doc was, for me, comfortingly firm with the confiscation of the tablets. These were prescribed by a duty GP, (not from my practice) for A+E minor injuries, at the telephoned request of a nurse.
A little chat direct with a doctor, might, (I do emphasise the conditional here) have made all the difference.
Thank goodness that you're okay! Take care, Flighty xx
Sorry to hear about this. Hope you are feeling much better already.
ZACL, What an awful experience. I'm glad to hear that your hubby was there and that you recovered from the reaction to the pills. Hope you are doing well.
I don't think the reaction was unknown; it was likely to have been the type of older type medication it was and a combination of circumstances. I have been given the medicine before. It can be tolerated with careful following of directions of use, provided the patient is generally alright taking the main ingredient. As said, I think it was a combination of circumstances that came into play. I won't be in a rush to accept another prescription of the stuff.
In ordinary circumstances, following the directions, (and reading the literature in the pack, which, I generally make a point of doing and did especially with this one) should mean the medication would do its job okay. I hesitate to say totally safely in view of what happened to me.
Yes, Shimon, I am much on the mend now. I am a bit surprised by how long it is taking for me to completely recover. Thank you for your kind thoughts.
Hello Flighty,
Many thanks for your wishes. xx
Yes Rebb, I was lucky to have hubby at home; I do not want to imagine what could have eventuated, if not.
I am tons better thank, though as yet, not fully over the after-affects. ghastly tablets! I will, from now on, avoid them.
