DESIRABLE DARK AND SHADY PLACES

This porker had the right idea, finding a dark place to snuffle around in and keep cool.  Outside, the humidity levels were very high and the temperatures settled around 32-34 degrees Celsius from about lunch time till very late in the day.

A notice on the door of another pigsty gave very clear instructions to visitors in two languages.
These two young lovelies appeared to be well catered for.  They were not in the least bit interested in being attracted  away from the goodies at the base of their trotters.

Their nursery mates couldn't be bothered with anything much.  But, then, who could blame them, it was just too hot to make an effort of any kind.
That shiny blue ball looked like an over-sized decoration bauble. I wonder if it was safe to play with.  If so, when cooler, do you think the kindergarten played fore-footed piglet football?

N.B
In case you have not recognised it, one of the two languages on the instructional notice is Welsh.

YO YO FOOTBALL JAMBOREES AND AGEING PIN-UPS

The British football politics are arrogant and breathtaking. The media's self-serving announcements at the top of the news reports about the winners of the various FIFA favours, is sour. In fact it's spiteful and nasty. There are other far more important matters in the world requiring of attention, and football games, in the global scheme of things, are nondescript.

Was there really a belief that because we are the United Kingdom, we had a right to major consideration?

Was there really a belief that sending the Prime Minister on yo-yo, jamborees, to show his face, along with an old,  ( in sports terms)  football pin-up and a member of the Royals, would secure "a world cup [in the prime-minister's lifetime]"?

Did we really believe that having named and shamed the FIFA organisation, having accused individuals on its voting board of corruption, that Britain would be benignly received?

There is a case for political, diplomatic, and media circumspection here and rather a lot less arrogance.

HOISTED BY OUR OWN PETARDS

The English team, (more correctly the UK team) is no longer participant in the World Cup football tournament.  If anyone wants to pick up some red and white stuff at keen prices for the next whizz bang sports, national pride jamboree,  now is the time to do so.   Traders have been left with stock that currently has no  attachment.

In modern times, we have not been a flag waving country for the sake of monarch and country.  The media work really hard at whipping up mass emotion, even mass hysteria, especially in sport.  This has led to a delusional belief about our super position in international football.

Football is described as an alternative religion.  Business has bought into the delusion believing it will bring healthy sales.  If remaining stocks are that high, what percentage of the population really bought into the waving or wearing of national colours?  This might be a case of being hoisted by our own delusions and petards.
