HOAX AUSTRALIAN MEDIA TELEPHONE CALL-NURSE KILLS HERSELF

It was really, really, hysterically funny making a hoax call from Australia at about 05.30 London UK time, to an unsuspecting member of nursing staff at the  hospital treating the Duchess of Cambridge  for acute sickness in the early stage of her pregnancy.  It was too damn easy because the person taking the call would not have had sufficient  aural expertise to assess a poor impersonation of the Queen or Prince Charles, and, yes, the impersonation was bad to the ears of any native UK English speaker, which, the nurse was not.  Bear in mind, we, the public, probably heard the recording improved for clarity of broadcasting.

The next day, the same two, really, hilariously, funny media presenters, gloated over their success, oh, and how easy it all had been.   By the way,  you idiotic selfish, inane, individuals, actions have consequences.  The poor unsuspecting innocent nurse, (a mother of two children) who took the call, has now killed herself.

A terrible tragedy.

I was very shocked to hear about that poor nurse, and still am. Cynic that I am, I am wondering how true the hospital's claims of supporting her really are.

Hello Cro Magnon,

Thanks for your comment. It is a terrible tragedy. Apart from losing a wife and a mother, I suspect her family have lost their main breadwinner too.

It is so very sad.

Hi Jennyta,

Your thoughts crossed my mind when I heard that statement, (a defensive insertion into the announcement?)

The hospital have a responsibility for security of their staff and their patients. They appear to have some questions to answer about both of those points.

It was mentioned that the tried and tested procedure in the past was to put all calls for the Royals through to the duty police officer, was there one? Were staff regularly updated on procedures? It seems that was not so.

Like you, I am still disturbed about Jacintha's fate.

Like everyone else, I'm appalled at this terrible tragedy. What a miserable Christmas it will be for her family. I hope they throw the book at those sniggering 'journalists'. I understand that Aussie media are much less 'careful' than ours are, much ruder. Well, now is the time to tighten up their controls. What a stupid, stupid waste of a human life. They will have to live with their crass irresponsibility to their dying day.

It is a heartbreaking situation. I'm amazed that greater controls were not in place given a Royal was admitted. I too wonder how "supporting" the management were being given the level of embarrassment.

I imagine the hoaxers would give anything to take this back, especially as footage of them gloating is everywhere.xxxxx

Hello GillyK,

I have a lump in my throat when I think about this awful situation. What hell must the poor nurse have gone through. It is difficult to comprehend.

I wonder if those two 'journalists' will think about matters other than how they relate to themselves. The juvenility and narcissism was writ large.

The bosses of the media need comprehensive pulling up. There has to be some global moral code. If that is too big an ask, then, decency must be instituted, at least at a national level.

Yes, P.P. many unanswered questions about the management. The poor girl answered the call and moved it on, she did not give out medical information. What is happening to the nurse who did?

It is reported that the management have now begun to 'defend' themselves by taking offensive action against the particular Australian media station. I would consider it very appropriate, but, the eye should not be taken off the ball about their own responsibilities in this matter.

Poor Jacintha. R.I.P

Yes, Mr F, any right-thinking individual would wholeheartedly agree with you. It was a despicable act.
